How true it is that! Many times we seek to find signifances and self worth by being someone else we're not. Living the pretentious life that would eventually be exposed to the truth in a matter of time. That's hypocritic.
The question that many of us would ask ourselves a million times, "WHO AM I?"
Pastor brilliantly brought about this fact frankly in plain words. Who we really are is not who we think we are, it is not who we want others to see us to be, nor is it who we wana become.
I guess many are afraid of letting their true self show. Hiding behide the shadow of their fears, being someone else they are not. Perhaps its pride in the way. So we simply put on an act of being someone great, while in actual fact we're just asprising to be one just like everyone else.
Its a very plain, straightforward and simple question, yet it requires us to think hard and search deep into our inward being to solve the identity mystery.
The fact is men has always been trying to resolve this identity crisis eversince the fall. Seperated from God's presence, we eventually dift apart from knowing Him as we ought to. We're created in His likeness, to know who we are, we gotta know who He is!
Look at the pattern in the Bible, God have been seeking men out to Himself. He yearns to fellowship and have a relationship with us. Those heros of faith were men who have decided to walk close to the Lord. In knowing Him, they found their life purpose, their value, their significance and they were secured...
It's time we know who we are, we're valuable to God no matter what the world may say. In Him, we find our purpose, our reason for existence and our destiny in life. Thats why the disciplers said to Jesus, "You have the words of eternal life, where else can we go..." Your answer, is in God!
Here's a story abt value that i had been wanting to write...
" A teacher lifted up her hand and caught the attention of the entire class. She asked and invited anyone who would like to have what she was about to offer, with no string attached. To the amazement of the class, in her hand was a 50 dollar bill. She instructed anyone who would like to have this 50 dollar bill to lift up their hands. The whole class lifted up their hands eagerly with expectancy. Doing something pretty odd, the teacher crashed the money in her hands as if it was a piece of trash before she asked again the second time for those who want to recieve the money to lift up their hands. The the response was the same, the everyone lifted their hands. She subsequently threw the money on the floor, trampling over it. Picking up the stained, dirty, undesirably looking bill, she asked the class the third time. And the response was the same. Everyone wanted the bill. Confused by her actions, one boy asked her what she was trying to do.
Here's her response to his question:
" I am trying to bring up something important here. All of you wanted this piece of paper because of the value it has-50 dollars. It has significance and worth. No matter how crampled, how dirty and how messed up it may look...its value doesn't change. And that's why all of you still want to have it. Its value is not dictated by how others sees it, nor by any externalities. It was established with the one who created it..."
No matter how messed up things may seem,
No matter how you feel abt yourself and how other feel about you,
No matter how undesirable things have turned out;
remember this...all these doesn't dictate YOUR value to God.
Your greatest value is your value to God.
